Hockey team supports National Guard family fund

DONATION: On Jan. 10, the money raised during the Big Rapids High School hockey game against Cadillac on Nov. 23 was presented to members of the military. A check for $1,000 was donated to the 125th Infantry Regiment, Michigan Army National Guard’s family fund. The money will be used for the benefit of families of the local National Guard unit. Players from Big Rapids and Cadillac wore special military-themed jerseys in a tribute to veterans. Members of the military were paid tribute to before the game. A special honor guard consisting of members of Ferris State’s ROTC program were in attendance. The Big Rapids band played the “Star Spangled Banner.” Money for admittance to the game was contributed by Big Rapids schools for the donation.
