Magic Bus bringing psychedelic music to Evart

EVART — The Farmer’s Almanac says the dog days of summer are nearing an end.

However, the Evart Downtown Development Authority’s Summer Concert Series continues this weekend and will feature the psychedelic music ensemble Magic Bus at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Aimed to recreating the atmosphere of the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco in 1967, Magic Bus has tunes such as Strawberry Alarm Clock’s “Incense and Peppermints” and Three Dog Night’s “Mama Told Me Not to Come” to prove it was a period of musical and creative energy that has never been equaled before or since, according to its website.

Concerts take place at the Evart Depot, and music fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The full Summer Concert Series list can be found or the DDA’s Facebook page. In case of rain, performances will take place inside Evart High School, located at 6221 95th Ave.
