Rural, one-room schoolhouse presentation set for Wednesday, Oct. 11

BIG RAPIDS — The Mecosta County Historical Society will present a program focused on rural and one-room schoolhouses on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Community members can participate in the presentation from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mecosta County Genealogical Society, 424 North Fourth Ave., Big Rapids. Mariann Hahn and Linda Hull, members of the historical society have been researching rural and one-room schools for four years, and will highlight some of the stories, as well as show photos they have compiled. A book on the subject will be finished at a later date. Families can bring photos, class lists or history on any of the Mecosta County schools to the presentation to be copied and added to the project.
