Reed City official: Privately owned sanitary sewage overflows

REED CITY — A privately owned sanitary sewage system at a local apartment complex overflowed Wednesday afternoon in Reed City.

As required by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Curt Brackenrich, operator of the Reed City Wastewater Treatment Plant, reported Wednesday afternoon the “small sanitary sewage overflow” at Cross Roads Apartments.

Brackenrich said the overflow had been stopped with less than 500 gallons overflowing.

The sanitary sewage system is not connected to the city’s wasterwater treatment system; however, Brackenrich still must report the overflow.
