Man loses control of vehicle on black ice in Mecosta County

MECOSTA COUNTY — Black ice caused an early morning accident Friday in Mecosta County, injuring one man.

Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 5:36 a.m. to a one vehicle rollover on U.S. 131 near 12 Mile Road.

The accident occurred when a 61-year-old man lost control on black ice and ran off the road, causing his pickup to overturn. The driver was transported to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Big Rapids Township Fire/Rescue and Mecosta County EMS.
