Sabin confident Baldwin bowlers will continue performing well

BALDWIN — Bowling teams are entering the final weeks of their season, and among the successful teams has been the Baldwin boys, who have been at the top of the league standings throughout the season.

The Panthers recently won the West Michigan Bowling Conference.

Among the bowlers the Panthers have used throughout the season for the boys is Spencer Sabin.

He’s in his junior season and is in his second year with the Panthers.

“I think I did pretty well,” he said after a recent match. “I still beat my guy and I’m pretty happy about that. We’re doing really well as a team. I think we’ll do well throughout the rest of the year.”

Sabin indicated he’s become more consistent for the Panthers with his shot.

“I want to continue to beat my guy and not take any losses,” he said. “The key is consistency.”

Sabin is also manager of the volleyball team and plays baseball. But bowling has become a special sport for him.

“I like it as a personal sport, but you also compete with the team,” he said.

Sabin is hoping the team can qualify for the state finals.

“I believe this year could be our year,” he said.

The Division 4 regionals are on Feb. 23-24 at Northway Lanes in Muskegon. The Panthers hope to qualify for the state finals on March 2-3 at M-66 Lanes in Battle Creek. Sabin is confident the Panthers could qualify for the state meet.

“I believe this year could possibly be our year,” he said.
