POLICE BLOTTER: Officers give drunk woman a ride home

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Thursday and Friday. All calls might not be reported.


• Officers responded to a suspicious situation at 10:58 a.m.

• Officers took a walk-in complaint regarding bullying at 11 a.m.

• At 4:11 p.m., police were called to a personal injury accident. An 89-year-old man turned left off Perry Avenue onto Watertower Road in front of a 20-year-old man. Both men complained of minor injuries and were checked and released by EMS at the scene.

• Officers took a walk-in complaint regarding a civil dispute at 4:35 p.m.

• At 6:10 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Ives Avenue for a complaint regarding a disorderly 17-year-old.

• Officers were sent to check a person’s well-being at 9:36 p.m. in the 300 block of South Stewart Avenue. The caller in a downstairs apartment had heard a loud thud from an upper apartment. Officers spoke with the tenant, who told them his brother had tripped and fallen on the floor. Contact was made with the brother, who said he was fine.

• At 10:45 p.m., police took a report of a lost cellphone in the 1100 block of Fuller Avenue. The caller lost their phone while outside walking the dog and couldn’t find it.


• Officers responded to a complaint regarding a disorderly man at 1:50 a.m. in the 600 block of South State Street. The man was upset over an order, but left just prior to arrival. He was located and was told not to go back there that evening.

• At 2:35 a.m., officers responded to Woodward Avenue and State Street for a woman laying in the sidewalk. Officers found a 21-year-old who was intoxicated and had slipped and fallen on the sidewalk. She was given a ride to her residence.

• Police were called regarding a noise complaint at 2:49 a.m. in the 1800 block of Milton Avenue. A noise warning was given to the tenant.

• At 3:19 a.m., officers assisted Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office deputies with trying to locate a man in the 800 block of Country Way. Police were unable to get anyone to answer the door.
