Mecosta County officials to hear housing proposal

BIG RAPIDS — The Big Rapids Housing Commission is looking at the long-term housing market in the city and would like to see if Mecosta County officials are interested in helping make .

When members of the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners meet at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Mecosta County Building, they will hear a proposal from the housing commission about future plans for a single-family subdivision with affordable and market-rate homes. The housing commission plan is in its initial phase, as it looks to build the homes on Mechanic Street in Big Rapids.

Commissioners also will decide on a zoning amendment request for a property in Green Township to be changed from commercial to agricultural/forestry zoning.
