Rockford woman rolls vehicle when looking at her phone while driving

BIG RAPIDS TWP. — A driver distracted by her phone rolled her vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Big Rapids Township.

Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched at 1:12 p.m. to the accident on northbound U.S. 131 near 13 Mile Road. Police investigation revealed the driver, a 21-year-old Rockford woman, was driving northbound on U.S. 131 and looking at her phone. While looking at her phone, she swerved off the road into the median, lost control and rolled the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was transported by Mecosta County EMS to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies were assisted on scene by Big Rapids Township Fire and Rescue.
