Evart track teams split dual meet

EVART — Evart’s boys and girls track teams were both 1-1 in Highland Conference action on Tuesday.

The Evart boys beat McBain NMC 113-42 but lost to McBan 114-49. The Evart girls lost to McBain 97-65 but defeated NMC 93-52.

For the Evart boys:

Kyle Stokes was first in the 100 meters (11.51) and 200 meters (24.14). Austin Hamilton was second in the 800 meters (2:11.24) and third in the 1,600 meters (4:55.37). The 4×100, 4×200 and 4×800 relay teams, took seconds, Mitchell VanScoyoc was first in the shot put (38-7), Zolan Long was second in the high jump (5-10), and Richard Foster and Long were one-two (11-6.1, 11-6) in the pole vault.

For the Evart girls:

Angela Gibbins was first in the 100 meters (14.09). Macey Wallace was second (29.14) and Gibbins was third (29.74) in the 200 meters. Sophia Scott won the 3,200 (14:01.16), the 4×100 relay team of Kaylee Ladd, Kara Henry, Macey Wallace and Angela Gibbins (55.41) was first and Wallace, Elder, Henry and Gibbins (1:55.09) were first in the 800.

Elder won the shot put (31-9 ½) and was third in the discus (83-6). Henry was second in the high jump (4-8).

Wallace won the long jump (14-11 ½).

Evart is at East Jordan for the regionals on Saturday and will host the Highland Conference meet on Tuesday.
