POLICE BLOTTER: Man arrested for stealing bottle of whiskey from bar

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Monday. All calls might not be reported.

• Officers responded to a loose dog complaint at 8:52 p.m. near Ives Avenue and Elm Street.

• Police were dispatched at 9:54 p.m. for a personal injury accident on the 1400 block of Bjornson Street. A 30-year-old man was walking with traffic in the roadway when he was struck by the mirror of a vehicle. The man was transported to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital’s emergency room for minor injuries.

• Officers were dispatched at 10:58 p.m. to the 900 block of Maple Street for a larceny complaint. The suspect, a 36-year-old man, stole a bottle of Seagram’s whiskey from the bar area before fleeing on foot. He later was located on the 300 block of Ives Avenue — still in possession of the stolen bottle. He was taken into custody for the larceny.
