POLICE BLOTTER: Juveniles sneak out of houses, get caught

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Monday and Tuesday. All calls might not be reported.


• Police responded to a suspicious situation at Perry Avenue and State Street.

• Officers were dispatched to a civil complaint between a man and woman about a borrowed bicycle from four months ago.

• Police responded to a violation of the Controlled Substances Act at the Bandshell at Hemlock Park. Juveniles were found huffing Dust-Off. The act was caught on a city camera and the juveniles were later found at the entrance of Hemlock Park. The juveniles were released to their parents and guardians. Petitions will be sought in the case.

• Officers performed an area check at 7:43 p.m. for a man sleeping in his vehicle on the 700 block of Perry Avenue. The man was located and was fine. He was resting before continuing his drive.

• At 11:25 p.m., an officer was contacted by a citizen on the 1100 block of Fuller Avenue in regards to a fix-it ticket.


• Officers were dispatched to a civil complaint at 1:22 a.m. on the 900 block of Maple Street. A 20-year-old woman was trespassed from the bar. She left without incident.

• At 1:50 a.m., officers were called to a juvenile complaint on the 700 block of Perry Avenue. The caller had found her 14-year-old daughter along with three other juveniles walking on their way to the store to get snacks after sneaking out of their houses. The caller took her daughter home and the three other juveniles were transported home and turned over to their not-so-happy parents.
