Trustees approve moving forward with cemetery maintenance

GREEN TWP. — Residents in Green Township can expect to see maintenance in local cemeteries soon.

During the Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday evening, members of the board approved a request from Trustee Gary Todd to seek bids for tree removal and driveway maintenance in township cemeteries.

One aspect of this project will be driveway maintenance at Park Hill Cemetery.

Supervisor Jim Chapman said the next step for the board will be to release a request for bids on the project.

Also during the meeting, trustees:

• Authorized board members and township deputies to attend the Michigan Township Association conference on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids;

• Received the township's annual audit report and made the decision to table discussion on the audit until next month's meeting; and

• Approved the updated insurance policy requirement to allow alcohol to be served in Stone Hatchery Park.

The next Green Township Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
