Evart volleyball team boasts experience

Katie Nostrant talks to her Evart team.

EVART — Evart volleyball coach Katie Nostrant has a team with experience and the Wildcats are looking forward to getting some success this season.

The Wildcats open their season at Coleman on Friday and came away with one win and two losses.

Nostrant had nine players on her team. Top returners include McKenzie Kimball, Kara Henry and Livia Hopkins. Other returners are Felicia Nelson, McKenzie Barnett, Angel Porter and Kaylee Ladd.

“We have some experience but we have some things to do,” Nostrant said. “They’re good. They’re going to be big blockers. They’re going to be hopefully good passers. They’re a great team.”

Nostrant is confident with her team’s abilities in various areas.

Practices started on Aug. 8.

During the summer “we did open gyms,” Nostrant said.

It’s her fourth year as varsity coach.

Evart was scheduled to play Pentwater on Monday and will be home on Wednesday with Harrison and Reed City. The Wildcats open the Highland Conference season at Lake City on Sept. 4.
