Big Rapids girls golfer places second at invite

TRAVERSE CITY — The Big Rapids Girls golf team took second on Tuesday at the Traverse City West Invitational

The Cardinals shot a 360 at Interlochen GC. They were led by Hope Thebo, who shot an 82. Lauren Posey posted a 90. Vallery Seay shot 93, followed by Holly McKenna (95), Payton Fuller (100), Avery Chaput (103), Kiali Stout (132), Chloe Miller (132) and Hannah Prins (135).

Harbor Springs won with a 351.

Hope Thebo was tied for second overall and Lauren Posey was 12th overall.

“It was good to see the girls compete in some rainy weather and learn to handle it,” Big Rapids coach Mark Posey said. “We came close to winning today and hopefully learned that if they want to achieve their goals that they are going to have to continue to improve.”

Big Rapids is in action at Central Montcalm on Thursday and then again on Friday at Katke for the Cardinal Invitational.
