EVART — Evart lost to Farwell, but defeated Montabella in nonleague girls volleyball action on Wednesday.

Both matches were 2-0.

“I thought we did good,” Wildcat senior McKenzie Kimball said. “Against Montabella, we were much more excited and into it and talking and everything. We had a lot going all-around. Our passing was good and we had some blocks.”

Kimball had seven kills, five assists against Montabella. Kaylee Ladd had six aces in the first game and served 10 in a row. Kara Henry had three blocks in the 25-18, 25-13 win over Montabella. Against Farwell, the Wildcats lost 25-22, 25-14. Kimball had four kills and three blocks. Henry had six kills and five blocks.

“The girls played hard the first game,” Nostrant said. “The second game they also played hard. At times they get down on themselves.”

Wildcats are 4-5.

“I think we’re doing very well,” Kimball said. “We’re progressing every time we play.”

Kimball said she wants to work on her setting and focusing on where her hitters want the ball.

“As a team, we’re learning we have to communicate all the time,” Kimball said. “We can’t get down after we lose a few points.”

Evart opens its Highland Conference season at Lake City on Tuesday.
