Cardinals senior having strong season

BIG RAPIDS — Senior Jenna Kondziolka has made key contributions for Big Rapids volleyball team this season and hopes it continues in key upcoming matches for the Cardinals.

“She’s been great defensively,” Big Rapids coach Chelsea Nelson said. “She’s had a different role this year.”

It’s Kondziolka’s second year on the varsity.

“We played pretty good as a team last year,” Kondziolka said. “It took some growing but the team helped me. I’ve moved around a little bit.”

Kondziolka has basically been a passer and is playing a similar position.

“I feel like I talk to the team and if they’re down, I pick them up,” she said. “But they help me too.”

To be an effective passer, “you have to go for every ball,” Konziolka said. “I also serve and at the beginning of the season. I started to hit. Then I went back to passing

To serve, “just focus, I think that’s the main thing,” she said. “I look for a weak spot.”

Big Rapids plays at Central Montcalm on Thursday in Central State Activities Association action.

“I think we’re doing really well,” Konziolka said. “Our goal this year is to be a family. When we’re a family, we’ll win games.”
