City commissioners to discuss purchasing fire engine, roof replacement for library

BIG RAPIDS — During the Big Rapids City Commission meeting on Monday, members of the board are expected to consider purchasing a new fire engine for the city.

The bid recommended to the board is from Halt Fire Inc., in Wixom, for $516,991.

Also during the meeting, commissioners are expected to consider approving:

• A bid to replace the roof of the Big Rapids Community Library for $35,040 from Great Lakes System, Inc.;

• A resolution adopting an amended special assessment for the 2017-18 sidewalk improvement project;

• A resolution amending the special use permit for Parklane Apartments, which will remove the restriction stating the developer cannot rent the apartments to single students;

• An agreement extension with William Sammut to lease airport property for an aircraft hangar at Roben-Hood Airport for a 10-year term from Oct. 1, 2018, through Sept. 31, 2028;

• Budget amendments for fiscal year 2018-19; and

• A traffic control order which will implement signage 15 feet from both the north and south sides of the crosswalk located on Ives Avenue near Chestnut Street stating “no parking between signs.”
