POLICE BLOTTER: Estranged wife unable to get ahold of husband

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Tuesday and Wednesday. All calls might not be reported.


• Officers performed school traffic details at 7:50 a.m.

• A hit-and-run crash occurred at 12:54 p.m. on the 700 block of Water Tower Road. There is no description of the suspect vehicle.

• Police recorded a fraud complaint at DPS.

• A traffic stop at 3:23 p.m. at Maple Street and Third Avenue resulted in the vehicle being impounded for the driver not having insurance.

• Offices were dispatched at 6:44 p.m. to a suspicious situation on the 300 block of Ives Avenue. When they arrived home, the tenants found their front door open and rear motion sensor light on. The house was secure and nothing was taken. Cat prints and the tenant’s own footprints in the snow were found on the back deck.

• At 10:27 p.m., officers performed a well-being check on the 1100 block of Fuller Avenue. An estranged wife in North Dakota was concerned when she had not heard from her husband in about a month, as they normally Skype. He was OK. He was having issues with his phone and other social media.


• Police performed school traffic details at 7:32 a.m.

• At 11:32 a.m., a two-car crash occurred on State and Cedar streets. The driver of one of the vehicles was in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was cited and released.

• A two-car crash occurred at 12:11 p.m. on the 800 block of State.

• A 2005 Chrysler Town and Country was tagged as abandoned by officers at 5:12 p.m. on the 400 block of Clark Street.
