Hit-and-run crash kills Morley resident

REYNOLDS TWP. — A Morley man is dead and another man is behind bars following a deadly crash Tuesday night.

According to the Michigan State Police, the crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Federal and Yankee roads in Montcalm County, just north of Howard City.

Troopers say the suspect vehicle was heading north on Federal Road when it crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming vehicle, driven by Max Clay Szynkowski, 20. The suspect fled the scene of the crash, leaving a passenger in his vehicle.

Szynkowski was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

The suspect was later arrested and lodged at the Montcalm County Jail. Officials are not releasing his name.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers are asking anyone who may have witnessed it or has information to call the state police post in Lakeview at (989) 352-8444.
