POLICE BLOTTER: Officer find intoxicated, cold, lost man

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Friday through Sunday. All calls might not be reported.

Friday

• Police performed morning school details at 7:37 a.m.

• A traffic stop at 12:34 p.m. near Woodward Avenue and State Street resulted in a 34-year-old male being cited for no insurance.

• At 12:35 p.m., officers took a walk-in suspicious situation complaint.

• Officers were called to the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue at 11:56 p.m. for a minor in possession. An 18-year-old woman was cited for MIP and a 21-year-old man was cited for furnishing to a minor.

Saturday

• An unlawful driving away of a vehicle was reported at 1:38 a.m. in city lot 4. The owner of the vehicle walked out of a bar and could not find his truck. It turns out, he drove the truck to a residence on North Fourth Avenue at approximately 10:17 p.m. and could not remember leaving the bar and returning later without it.

• At 4:03 a.m., police assisted Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office deputies on 14 Mile Road with a male attempting to kick a door in.

• Officers made field contact at 4:54 a.m. near Chestnut Street and Michigan.

• Police performed at portable breathalyzer test at 8:16 a.m.

• Officers responded to the 100 block of South Michigan at 2:59 p.m. for a white female who stole several items of clothing, totaling $15. The female is described as 36-years-old with a 12-year-old black male. She got in a bluish-gray minivan and went east. A video shows the boy’s coat was yellow. The van looks like a newer model Toyota Sienna.

• A traffic stop at 4 p.m., near Fourth and Baldwin Street, led to a 37-year-old female being issued a ticket for no insurance.

• Police were called to the 100 block of South Michigan for a fake ID. The owner of the ID left prior to officers’ arrival. The case still is under investigation.

• Officers responded to the 100 block of South Michigan for a man refusing to leave. He was gone when officers arrived.

• On the 200 block of West Spruce Street, officers located a 21-year-old male walking around, intoxicated, cold and lost. The male was possibly the subject who refused to leave in the report above. He was given a ride to a friend’s residence.

• A traffic stop near Rust Avenue and Division Street resulted in a 23-year-old male being arrested for high blood alcohol content and refusing portable breathalyzer test.

Sunday

• At 1:41 p.m., officers performed an area check on the 800 block of Willow Avenue for kids sledding down a hill and into the roadway. The children were stopping before they hit the roadway.

• Officers were called to a civil dispute at 1:41 p.m. on the 600 block of Maple Street. The caller received several unwanted calls from a female. She was advised to stop calling him.

• Police assisted Michigan State Police troopers at 4:30 p.m. at the emergency room.

• At 6:38 p.m., officers were called to a civil dispute on the 800 block of Country Way.

• A failure to pay for $18.50 in gas was reported at 10:49 p.m. on the 600 block of Maple.

• At 9:53 p.m., near State and Pine streets, an all clear was issued for a subject matching the description of a male with several warrants who was found to be someone else.

• Officers performed a well-being check while assisting EMS at 9:53 p.m.
