Cole plays key role for CCA

BIG RAPIDS — Mackenzie Cole is in her junior season for Crossroads girls basketball team, and will be a key player for new coach Jason Kostecki.

Cole has played the past two seasons, when the Cougars were dealing with youth and inexperience.

“This year is going pretty good,” she said. “It’s good what we have with the new coach and he’s pushing us hard. The biggest thing at practice is there’s no drama and there’s no complaining.”

Cole has been a point guard for the Cougars.

“My strength would probably be talking to the team and being a leader,” she said.”Sometimes, I struggle with confidence at the point guard position. I’m good at communicating. That’s a strong point. They want me to work on my confidence.”

Cole said she needs to shoot the ball more, with the mid-range shot being her best.

“I see us going far, improving from last year,” Cole said.
