Big Rapids Township trustees discuss road projects, budget adjustments

BIG RAPIDS TWP. — Township officials are looking to the future for road projects.

During the Big Rapids Township Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday evening, members of the board discussed recommendations from the roads committee for roadwork in 2020.

Supervisor Bill Stanek said these tentative projects include work on Gilbert Drive and a one-mile stretch of 17 Mile Road.

Also during the meeting, trustees approved:

• The annual mileage rate for authorized travel by township employees;

• Changes and additions to the employee manual, including prohibition of weapons and a holiday;

• A water operator contract renewal; and

• 2018 budget adjustment recommendations.

Board members decided to wait to discuss fire committee requests to borrow $75,000 from the revolving loan fund, purchase a new chassis and remount the current tank until further study is completed.
