LEROY — Pine River guard Caleb Bowman was dishing the ball Thursday against McBain Northern Michigan Christian.

Bowman tallied 10 assists and added seven rebounds as the Bucks defeated NMC 60-51 at home.

“He did a great job of moving and getting open for Trenten.,” Pine River head coach Brian Goodenow said. “Most of his assists went to Trenten.I was very proud of Caleb tonight.”

Sasha Huffman led the Bucks with 17 points and Trenten Holmes had 15 and Elijah Lewis 10. Pine River led 28-21 at halftime and led by as many as 16 in the second half.

“NMC never gives up,” Goodenow said. “I felt like we pretty much were in control of the game. It came down to moving the ball well on offense.”

Huffman — one of the area’s best shooters — experienced a shooting slump to start the season. Thursday’s game looked like a return to form.

“Sasha has struggled with his shot this year,” Goodenow said. “But he hit some big shots for us tonight. 14 of his 17 came in the second half.
“He looked confident out there.”

Pine River (5-4, 3-2) is at Forest Area on Monday.
