State police investigating arson, homicide one year later

LAKE COUNTY — Michigan State Police continue to investigate the arson which led to the death of Evelyn Louise Ware in a Jan. 10, 2018, fire in Lake County’s Ellsworth Township.

One year later, detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the fire to come forward, according to a release from the state police. The information does not have to be firsthand knowledge of the crime, and any information regardless of seeming importance, is requested.

“Remember, the information you possess, could be the information investigators have been hoping to receive, and it could lead to a critical advancement in this case,” the release states.

Ware was discovered dead beneath the rubble caused by a fire at her home at 1487 Lakola Road. The Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.
