University Center anniversary part set for Friday

BIG RAPIDS — New and returning Ferris State University students will find games, prizes and more as they are welcomed to campus for the spring semester.

Rounding out the first week of the new semester will be the University Center anniversary party from 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Jan. 18, at the University Center, 805 Campus Drive, Big Rapids.

“It’s been five years since the new center was opened on campus,” said Mark Schuelke, University Center director. “We’re expecting about 1,000 people for this event, which will take up the two levels.”

Schuelke noted most of the events will be along the main “streets,” or hallways, of the center, with a few activities in some of the rooms. Friday’s celebration will include food, giveaways, karaoke, virtual reality games, street sign making and glow-in-the-dark roller skating on a portable rink.

Schuelke said this event is a good way to celebrate the vibrancy of student life on campus while welcoming those attending Ferris State University classes.
