Riley Blair draws honors

BIG RAPIDS — Ferris State University junior Riley Blair (Dearborn/Divine Child) has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Blair continued her stellar play as of late as the Bulldogs notched their third consecutive victory with an impressive 62-46 triumph over Lake Superior State in GLIAC North Division action on Saturday before a large crowd inside Jim Wink Arena.

Blair scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down six rebounds with two blocked shots, an assist and a steal in the win. She made 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) field goals in the victory and has averaged more than 20 points per game in the last three contests for the Bulldogs as they continue their push for the GLIAC postseason.

Her play has been critical for a team that has battled through several injuries since the holiday break.

Ferris State, which is now 10-7 overall, will visit Saginaw Valley State on Thursday in a 6 p.m. league tilt in University Center. FSU then takes on Northwood Saturday in Midland starting at 4 p.m.
