Crossroads boys beat Brethren to lead area roundup

Crossroads 78, Brethren 60

BIG RAPIDS — Britton Angell scored 33 points while Ethan Davis had 13, Isaac Slomp had 11 and Cody Carlson 10 in Monday’s win for Crossroads.

Crossroads, ranked honorable mention in the Associated Press’ Division 4 poll, is 14-1 overall and 12-1 in the league.

Crossroads plays Thursday at Walkerville.

McBain 48, Pine River 33

LEROY — The Bucks fell victim to the Ramblers on Monday. Trenton Holmes, Lane Ruppert, and Sasha Huffman tallied eight points apiece to lead the Bucks.

Pine River (7-9, 4-6) hosts Roscommon tonight.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Greenville 45, Big Rapids 26

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids fell to 4-9 with this nonleague loss on Monday to Greenville.

Adele Kemp had 16 points for Greenville. Josie Prince had eight points and Holly McKenna seven for Big Rapids.

The Cardinals had 28 turnovers.

“My kids play so hard,” Big Rapids coach Jessica Haist said. “They don’t give up and they battle. We have to get better with the ball.”

Big Rapids is home on Tuesday with Central Montcalm.

Morley Stanwood 42, Reed City 25

MORLEY — The Mohawks used a 12-2 third quarter to pull away from the Coyotes for the win.

Morley Stanwood led 19-11 at halftime.

Morley Stanwood’s Brooke Brauher had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Breanna Berry had 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Taylor Harrison led the Coyotes with eight points.

Morley Stanwood (9-6, 5-3) hosts Beal City on Wednesday and Reed City (2-12, 1-8) is at Chippewa Hills tonight.

McBain 52, Pine River 23

LEROY — The Bucks fell to the Ramblers by 29 points on Monday.

Hailey Wanstead had 12 points and our rebound and Taylor Hill added six rebounds.

Pine River (0-13, 0-8) is at McBain Northern Michigan Christian on Thursday.
