Whitetails Unlimited banquet set for March 14

BIG RAPIDS — The Mecosta County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited has announced plans for its annual banquet on Thursday, March 14, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2335 Lodge on 16 Mile Road in Big Rapids.

Games/raffles and social hour is set for 5:30 p.m. The buffet dinner starts at 7 p.m.

As a non-profit organization, WU’s purposed is to raise funds in support of education programs. Wildlife habitat enhancement and acquisition, and the preservation of the shooting sport and hunting tradition for future generations.

The WTU hunting event will include a dinner, auction, and prizes with a wide array of products such as firearms, outfitter packages, hunting and outdoor-related equipment, artwork and collectibles only available at WTU events.

LaPreze said the banquet will have a similar format as in the past.

Turnouts are usually between 250 to 300.

“They like the opportunity to look at different hunting things and decor and guns and see what’s the latest and greatest things they can win,” LaPreze said. “We support TwoHats Ranch which provides the hunts for Purple Heart Disabled vets, and the youth challenge hunts.”
