CCA boys rout Mason County Eastern to lead roundup

Crossroads 78, Mason County Eastern 53

CUSTER — Crossroads clinched a share of the West Michigan D League title with Monday’s win over MCE.

Crossroads had quarter leads of 26-12, 48-17 and 61-30.

Britten Angell had 30 points followed by Robert Miller with 14, Dawson Soller and Tyler Hund with eight apiece and Ethan Davis with seven.

“We pulled the starters after the first half,” CCA coach Julian Castillo said. “It was a great win.”

Crossroads, 17-1 overall and 15-1 in the CSAA, is home with Bear Lake on Tuesday.

Manistee Catholic Central 54, Baldwin 46

MANISTEE — MCC had a 29-15 halftime lead and went on to this West Michigan D League win over Baldwin on Monday. Lavonte Palmer had 11 points for the Panthers.

Baldwin is at Brethren on Tuesday and at Bear Lake on Thursday.


Lake City 57, Morley Stanwood 42

LAKE CITY — The Mohawks found themselves in a 25-8 first quarter hole it couldn’t escape from.

Lake City led 33-16 at halftime but Morley Stanwood battled in the second half, outscoring the Trojans 26-24 in the frame.

“The first quarter was rough,” head coach Rob Brauher said. “They hit everything. We were very tentative and they were aggressive. Once we settled down, we did well. We played really hard in the second half.”

Brauher 11 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists and Breanna Berry had 10 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists while Madison Garbow added eight points.

The Mohawks (10-7, 6-3) face White Cloud (11-3, 6-2) on Wednesday in a battle for second place in the CSAA Silver.
