REED CITY — Reed City junior Maddie Morgan has been playing a key role for Reed City’s girls basketball team in recent games and is hoping to pick it up in the final two weeks of the regular season.

Morgan made some key baskets in Friday’s 43-35 loss to Big Rapids.

“We fell behind a little bit at the beginning but worked hard to came back,” Morgan said. “We’re improving.”

It’s her first varsity season. She had seven points in the loss to Big Rapids. It was one of her better games.

Her role, Morgan said, is to score.

“I’m more of a (wing),” she said. “I’m trying to get more points. I need to keep working on my shot.”

Reed City is at Central Montcalm Tuesday and home on Friday with Newaygo.

“We need to bring our fouling down in the end (of games),” Morgan said. “We need to work hard in practice and on our shot.”

When the season ends, Morgan, a Reed City pitcher, will get ready for softball practices, which start on March 11.
