Green Township trustees to discuss recreational marijuana control options

GREEN TWP. — During the Green Township Board of Trustees meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, members of the board are expected to discuss options for recreational marijuana zoning and control.

This is being considered by trustees following the passage of a voter-initiated law in the November 2018 election which declared the possession of marijuana was no longer illegal in Michigan.

Also during the meeting, trustees will hear the results of paint sample tests from the walkway portion of the pedestrian walk bridge which originally spanned across North State Street in Big Rapids.

The walkway was moved to Green Township after it was taken down in July, and trustees are continuing to take steps toward repurposing the bridge.

Green Township regular monthly board meetings take place at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

The schedule as it currently stands includes meetings on April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, 2020, and Feb. 11, 2020.
