POLICE BLOTTER: Mecosta Chamber of Commerce sign vandalized

Friday

• Police investigated the larceny of a Mary Kay package from a front porch in the 800 block of North Fourth Street. There are no suspects.

• Officers looked into a counterfeit $100 bill complaint in the 800 block of Clark Street.

• Police investigated a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Pemberton Avenue. A 42-year-old man was arrested on felony charges.

• Officers looked into the larceny of a yellow trailer loaded with scrap metal in the 800 block of North State Street. There are no suspects.

• A traffic stop in the 21000 block of Perry Avenue led to a 20-year-old man being cited for driving with a suspended license.

• An investigation into an open intoxicants suspect in the 100 block of South Dekrafft Avenue led to a 20-year-old man allegedly giving officers false identification and lying about his age. He was jailed.

• Officers investigated a littering complaint at the Big Rapids Library. The suspect, a 22-year-old man, allegedly fled on foot, north through residents’ backyards and over fences. He was arrested near the intersection of Locust Street and Michigan Avenue. The suspect was jailed on charges of littering, prowling and hindering/obstructing police.

• A traffic stop near the intersection of East Pine Street and Michigan Avenue led to a 21-year-old woman being cited for operating while intoxicated.

• Officers assisted in locating a missing juvenile. The boy was found.

Saturday

• Officers reported an abandoned vehicle in the 300 block of North State Street, near Pine Street.

• A traffic stop near the intersection of Perry Avenue and Ferris Drive led to a 51-year-old woman being cited for driving without insurance and having an unregistered vehicle.

• Police responded to a failure to pay complaint in the 500 block of South Third Street. A man in a tan, Buick passenger car with damage pumped more than $44 in gas and then waited for the cashier to get distracted, police said. He then allegedly backed out of the gas station and left northbound on South Third Street. The area was checked and officers were unable to locate him.

• Officers responded to a private property damage accident in the 1200 block of Perry Avenue. The vehicle needed a tow.

• Officers assisted the Big Rapids Fire Department with hazardous materials on the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue. A vehicle was leaking gasoline. The vehicle was towed.

• Police responded to a noise complaint in the 300 block of South Stewart Street. A tenant at the residence was issued a noise warning.

• Police responded to the 800 block of Tioga Park Drive, initially, for a noise complaint. Officers ended up finding a party where cups for alcoholic drinks were being sold. The tenant/host was interviewed and allegedly said people were buying cups to drink for $5. The party was shut down and officers will pursue charges.

• Officers responded to a suspicious/tampering situation in the 300 block of South Michigan Avenue. Multiple car drivers’ doors were opened and left that way, and multiple drivers’-side mirrors were pushed backwards. Nothing was stolen.

Sunday

• Officers responded to a malicious destruction of property complaint at the Mecosta Area Chamber of Commerce building. The sign outside of the building was vandalized. The incident is under investigation.

• Officers responded to a fraud complaint in the 800 block of South State Street.
