Evart senior scoring valuable points for Wildcats

Tanner Ryan

EVART — Tanner Ryan has been off to a fast start for Evart’s boys track team so far this season.

Ryan, a senior, was 19th at the Fowler Invitational in the 100 meters (12.64) and 16th in the 200 meters (26.48). He got his personal record in the 200 with a 25.15-second clocking on April 3 at Chippewa Hills. He clocked his personal record of 11.74 seconds in the 100 meters against Harrison on April 9.

Ryan is also running in various relays. His 4×200 team was second at the Fowler Invitational in 1:39.53.

He indicated the 200 is his best event.

“I want to be setting a PR every race or every other race,” he said. “I’ve got my strategy down. I try to be a well-rounded runner. I run the relays. I’m the starter. I like that I’m one of the few people on the team who starts with the baton.

Evart is scheduled to run at Roscommon on Thursday.

“We’re short staffed but we’ve got a lot of talent,” Ryan said. “Everyone is very good in at least one thing and that’s what we need.”
