Wildcats win baseball invitational

BLANCHARD — Evart’s baseball team was 3-0 on Saturday and took first place in the Montabella Invitational.

Evart opened with a 10-2 win over Montabella. Parker Henry was the winning pitcher, striking out four, walking one and allowing two hits.

Offensively, Ty Sochocki had a double, single and RBI; Carter Pritchard had two singles and two RBIs, Donavin Reagan had three singles and an RBI; Nate Sochocki had a double and two RBIs; Reese Ransom had a single and RBI and Pierce Johnson had an RBI

In the second game, Evart beat Tri County 8-3. Ty Sochocki went seven innings, striking out three and allowing one walk and seven hits.

Sochocki had a single and two RBI; Garrett Johnson had two singles and an RBI; Ransom had a double and Pierce Johnson a single and two RBI.

In the title game, Evart prevailed over Ithaca 10-0. Danny Witbeck was winning pitcher. In five innings, he struck out four, walked one and allowed no hits.

Ty Sochocki had a single and two RBIs, Witbeck had two singles and one RBI, Ransom had two singles, Garrett Johnson had a triple and two RBI; Reagan a single and RBI, Sebastian Calderon two doubles and three RBIs and Pierce Johnson two singles and RBI.

“We had one big inning each game offensively,” Evart coach Josh Johnson. “I was very pleased with the effort of all my players. I had a few of our key guys out for the weekend with injuries or illness so I brought some young guys up for the tournament and they played real well for us.”

Evart’s record is now 20-5 and the Wildcats play McBain home on Tuesday.
