Brothers plead guilty in Feb. 1 shooting

BIG RAPIDS — Two brothers will spend time behind bars after pleading guilty to charges related to a Feb. 1 shooting in Big Rapids.

Paris Jones, 23, and Antonio Jones, 25, pleaded guilty to charges on Tuesday afternoon in Mecosta County’s 77th District Court, according to Detective Brian Miller of the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.

Paris Jones pleaded guilty to one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle. He was sentenced to one year in jail.

Antonio Jones pleaded guilty to shooting at a dwelling and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He will serve his time with the Michigan Department of Corrections. The firearms charge carries up to four years in prison.

The two were charged following an investigation of a Feb. 1 shooting at an unoccupied residence on the 400 block of Fuller Avenue in Big Rapids. No one was injured in shooting. On Feb. 9, Antonio Jones was arrested for an absconding warrant through the MDOC in Mount Pleasant.
