DBA announces 2019 Pocket Park Music Series lineup

BIG RAPIDS — From rock ‘n’ roll to old country, Americana to Celtic, music of all genres will soon echo through downtown Big Rapids as the 2019 Pocket Park Music Series begins Friday, May 31.

Concerts begin at noon and continue until approximately 2 p.m. on Fridays from June through the end of August.

Jennifer Heinzman, Mecosta County Chamber of Commerce executive director and member of the Downtown Business Association, said Fridays in Big Rapids are always fun over the summer with the concerts and the farmers markets happening at the same time.

“Fridays are happening downtown. It’s the place to be,” she said. “It’s good for all the businesses too because of all the traffic.”

The lineup of music includes:

• May 31: Balsam Brothers — progressive rock

• June 7: Outlaw Express — country/rock

• June 14: Dan Kirshner — easy mix

• June 21: The Lazy Leprechauns — Celtic

• June 28: Wyatt and Shari — Americana

• July 5: Bob Craig — rock/country mix

• July 12: Colmus Family — gospel

• July 19: Peter Jordan and His Fun Loving Crowd — old country

• July 26: Strings and Things — easy listening

• Aug. 2: Dave Yonker — contemporary Christian

• Aug. 9: Big Rapids DBA Presents — youth

• Aug. 16: White Elephants Records Presents — rock mix

• Aug. 23: Allison Leveque and Friends — acoustic folk and rock

• Aug. 30: Darrell Z Marvel Band — old rock
