BALDWIN — The home season came to an end for Baldwin’s baseball team, with 10-3 and 8-4 losses to Manistee Catholic Central in West Michigan D League action on Thursday.

In the first game, Ryan Kolenbrander took the loss on the mound. Logan Theisen had a single while Kolenbrander had two RBIs.

Catholic Central rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the fourth inning to take the four-run win in six innings in the second game.

“They started hitting the ball and there was nothing we could do about it,” Baldwin assistant coach Zach Engelhart said.

Kolenbrander and Darrion Hayter both had a base hit and RBI.

“It’s going pretty well,” Hayter said. “I had a double today and RBI. You just have to keep our eye on the ball, keep your head tucked in and make contact.”

Logan Theisen had a walk and Darrin Thomas a single.

“I was proud of the boys for what they did today,” Engelhart said. “It’s been a long journey to get to where we are now. They’re playing as a team instead of individuals.”

Baldwin will play on May 31 in the Division 4 district tournament at Custer-Mason County Eastern against Pentwater for Walkerville in a semifinal game at 10 a.m.
