MORLEY —Morley Stanwood was among the local teams which competed in the Mitchell Creek Meet of Champions on Friday.

The Mohawks are starting to put the wraps on the season and athletes like sophomore Delaney McLaughlin are looking forward to the future.

“Last year was kind of hard because I wasn’t able to improve my time,” she said earlier in the season. “But this year, I’m already running better than most of my times from last year.”

Her 400 is her best event, she said. Her seasonal best in the 400 was a 1:08.98 at Friday’s Mitchell Creek Mett of Champions.

“I have a good start, it’s always hard for me at the end,” McLaughlin said.

She was anchor in the 4×400 relay and later became the first leg.

“It’s exciting” being anchor, McLaughlin said. “It’s fun to watch everyone.”

The Mohawks were a force in the CSAA Silver this season and were third in the league meet.

“The more we try, and the harder we work at stuff, we can be really good,” McLaughlin said.
