Big Rapids baseball’s Connor Kinnally going to Lawrence Tech

BIG RAPIDS — Connor Kinnally joins a long list of former Big Rapids baseball players set to perform at the collegiate level.

Kinnally was among the Cardinal seniors who earlier this spring announced his intention for collegiate sports. He’ll be playing baseball at Lawrence Tech University in Southfield.

“I like how they presented themselves,” he said. “It’s a really good school and program. The coach is really serious about baseball down there. I saw myself seriously playing down there.”

Kinnally expects to play third base at Lawrence Tech.

“I’m playing shortstop right now,’’ he said, adding he also pitched with Big Rapids.

Kinnally is confident with his reaction time at third base and with his arm to first base.

As the 2019 season was unfolding at Big Rapids, Kinnally expressed satisfaction with his hitting.

“Adjusting to pitchers,” will be a major adjustment to the college level,” Kinnally said, “especially to offspeed pitches. You just have to wait on it.”

Kinnally has been a three-year starter for Big Rapids.

“Connor has played a huge role on numerous BR championship teams over the past three years,” Big Rapids coach Sam Daugherty said.
