LEROY — Pine River had a highly successful senior season, and three of the reasons came from the talents of seniors Hunter Poe and Luke Hill, and junior Lane Ruppert.

“Hunter was our three or four hitter all year,’’ Bucks coach Shawn Ruppert said. “He played an excellent first base and was our No. 2 pitcher. He has been a great teammate.”

Poe batted .434 with 33 hits in 76 at bats, six doubles, one triple, one homer, and 32 RBIs. He was 7-4 with an 0.84 ERA, 54 strikeouts, 43 hits and 22 walks.

Hill “has been our No. 1 pitcher the last two years,” Ruppert said. “He has been very consistent and gives us a good chance to win when he’s on the mound. He was our No. 4 or No. 5 hitter most of the year and was productive in those slots. He is a good leader who loves to play the game.”

Hill had an 8-3 record, with 1.62 ERA, 94 strikeouts, 23 walks and 41 hits in 61 innings. He had 29 hits in 90 at-bats with a .322 average, nine doubles 26 RBIs, eight doubles and 22 strikeouts.

Lane Ruppert “was our shortstop all year and No. 3 pitcher,” Shawn Ruppert said. “He did a great job of getting us going as our leadoff hitter. He’s a very good good baserunner and thinker of the game.”

Ruppert had a .380 average, 24 walks, 35 hits in 92 at bats, four doubles, four triples, one home run, 18 RBIs and 32 steals. He had a 3-1 pitching record with one save and 3.08 ERA.
