Chippewa Hills’ Natalie Newcombe enjoys another standout track season

REMUS — It doesn’t seem all too long ago when Natalie Newcombe emerged onto the track and cross country season for Chippewa Hills as a freshman.

Newcombe ended her junior track season a month ago, and it was another good one.

She was the first leg of the 4×800 relay team which qualified for the state final with a third-place finish of 9:43.88 in the regional.

“I was happy with the race,” Newcombe said after the meet. “We were one second off our school record.”

The foursome was 12th at the state meet.

Newcombe also ran the 1,600 meters and had a season record of 5:22.38 in a CSAA Gold meet. She also ran the 1,600-meter run and had several first places including a 5:22.38 at the CSAA Gold meet.

“I was happy about that,” Newcombe said.

As a junior, as far as he 4×800, “I was my best year,” Newcombe said. “We were conference champs for the 17th year in a row. That was awesome.”

Newcombe is now getting ready for the fall cross country season.
