BIG RAPIDS — It will be virtually nonstop baseball this week as the Quad City Storm again hosts its annual tournament.

Quad City Storm coach Dave Yonker said games will start as early as noon on Friday and go through Sunday at Win Kellum Field, JV and varsity Big Rapids High School fields and Industrial Field east of the Baldwin Street Bridge.

Games are tentatively set on Friday noon, 2 p.m, 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m. and going in the evening at all three fields.

“A lot of baseball is going on,” Yonker said. “We have teams from all over the state coming. Our 12U will be at Industrial Park, 14U and combined 15-16U for the most part will be at the high school, and 18U will be at Win Kellum.”

It will be four divisions of baseball.

The Quad City team consists of players from Big Rapids and other areas including Morley Stanwood and Reed City.

Evart coach Josh Johnson said he’ll have several players from the Mount Pleasant 16U and 18U Legion teams playing at the Quad City tournament. Danny Witbeck and Nate and Ty Sochocki, Justin O’Dell and Reese Ransom are among the expected players from Evart.

Johnson said his 16U Colt League team has ended its summer season and he was pleased with the playing time netted by his athletes.

“It was next year’s Evart JV players and freshmen who mostly made up the team,” he said.
