BIG RAPIDS — Hope Thebo is off to a good start in her senior season with the Big Rapids girls golf team.

Thebo was the low medalist on Friday at Katke Golf Course in the first Central State Activities Association jamboree with a 75.

Also for Big Rapids, Lauren Posey had an 88, Holly McKenna had a 90, Avery Chaput (98), Chloe Miller (106) and Kiali Stout (115),

Big Rapids was first among nine schools with a 351.

“It went good, a 75,” she said. “My putts were on today. I hit many greens.”

Thebo was first-team All-State last season.

She’s coming off a busy summer.

“We finished second at regionals last year and I finished second,” Thebo said.

Big Rapids was seventh at the state finals as a team.

“It was a good season but not as good as I wanted it to be,” she said. “We want to win conference, hopefully win regionals and get top five at state.”

Thebo’s average for 18 holes was 83. She’s hoping to average in the 70s.

“I need to hit my greens,” she said. “We hope to save the best for last.”

Fremont shot a 451 for second. Chippewa Hills was third with 459, led by Taylor Neeb (106), Hanah Herman (112), Kerstin Stadfeld (119), Riley Case (122), Isabella Bitler (123), and Isabel Warner (128).
