Changes to security at the Lake County Courthouse

LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Trial Court recently implemented new security guidelines in hopes of protecting the employees of Lake County, as well as citizens who enter the Lake County Courthouse.

“Upon entry into the Lake County Courthouse, all individuals entering the building will be required to give their name to the security officer prior to entry,” the press release said. “ALL individuals will be subject to search and all bags will be searched. Any individual refusing to provide name or refusing to be searched, WILL BE REFUSED ENTRY.”

The press release also stated weapons of any kinds, i.e. firearms, knives, pepper spray and explosives, are prohibited, as well as any object security construes as a weapon.

Cell phones also are prohibited on the third floor of the building, unless specifically authorized by the court.

Officials could not be reached for comment.
