Evart to host scrimmage on Thursday

EVART — Teams including the Evart Wildcats are getting ready for football scrimmages this week as the kickoff for the 2019 season draws closer.

Evart is the only team which has a home scrimmage. The Wildcats have a scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. at the stadium.

“I think it was a good first week of practice,” Evart coach Pat Craven said. “We made out of the first week healthy. That’s what’s important.”

The scrimmage is on Thursday one week prior to the first game on Aug. 29 with Frankfort.

“We don’t put too much focus on the scrimmage,” he said. “We put most of the focus improving every single day and improving ourselves so we can get ready for Frankfort. We’ll spend about less than half of a practice session on the scrimmage session, getting people in the right spots so we can see what they can do.”

Craven acknowledged there could be some decisions on starting assignments based on the scrimmage.

“We’d like to have a lot of that wrapped up going into the scrimmage, but there will be some spots up for grabs,” Craven said.
