POLICE BLOTTER: Officers respond to report of person allegedly removing mail from mailboxes

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Monday and Tuesday. All calls might not be reported.

Monday

• Officers performed a well-being check on kids at 10:21 a.m. in the 800 block of Water Tower Road. This led to a 26-year-old man from Wyoming being arrested on a warrant out of Kent County. Further investigation resulted in officers finding a 28-year-old woman and her 27-year-old boyfriend under the influence of drugs. The woman also had a meth warrant out of Kent County. Officers also discovered the man had meth in his possession. The children the officers performed a well-being check for were turned over to Child Protective Services, and later to family members.

• At 2:56 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious activity complaint in the 700 block of Lilac Avenue. The complainant reported someone had pulled all the mail out of several mailboxes in the area.

• Officers responded to a civil dispute at 3:53 p.m. in the 800 block of South State Street.

• At 4:21 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Water Tower for a report of a witness seeing a man push a woman down. This led officers to the 1000 block of Fuller Avenue, where the man and woman were having an argument because he was talking to another woman.

• At 4:41 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Second Avenue for a civil dispute involving a person being evicted.

Tuesday

• At 4:51 a.m., officers assisted the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office with a malicious destruction of property complaint.
