Weinberg enjoys strong season

Will Weinberg

EVART — Evart’s baseball team won’t be playing in regional tournament action this weekend after sustaining a tough 3-2 loss to Farwell in the  pre-district game on May 28.

But the Wildcats had plenty of key contributions on the mound including from Wil Weinberg, a senior pitcher who had outstanding performances including at the home Cat Classic, which Evart won.

“The day started out cold but then the sun came out and warmed up and that made it a good pitching day for me,” Weinberg said. “It was a matter of relaxing a little bit and throwing the ball like I know how to do.”

Weinberg has used a variety of pitches to be an effective hitter this season.

“I’ve tried a little bit of sidearm as well,” he said. “But I would say everything is going well for me.”

It’s Weinberg’s second varsity season for Evart baseball.

“I feel I’ve improved tremendously since last year,” Weinberg said. “I’ve done some decent hitting. The key to being a good hitter is making sure you’re focused always and stay away from bad pitches.”

Evart finished at 9-3 in the Highland Conference for second place.
