Livia Hopkins playing key role for Wildcats

Livia Hopkins passes the ball for Evart.

EVART — Livia Hopkins is among the reasons Evart’s volleyball team is off to a strong start this season.

Hopkins is among the key returning players for the Wildcats.

She’s on her junior season and will be on the varsity her third year.

“We’ve been making a lot of progress,” she said.

Hopkins has been an outside hitter and outside back-row player, and will be at those roles again this year.

“I think I cover the floor well in back row and getting hard hits in the front row,” she said. “I need to keep my hands open for hitting.”

Hopkins will also be doing some serving for the Wildcats.

The strength of her serving “is the speed it comes back at people,” she said.

The Wildcats are home on Thursday for Highland Conference action against McBain. Evart is 4-5.

“I think we’ll be strong as soon as we get our new people into positions and have them learn the rotation,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins also played basketball and softball, and said she worked during the summer to improve in all three sports.
