Reed City has won its eighth straight league title.

STANTON — The Reed City Coyotes ran over the Central Montcalm Hornets to the tune of an 80-0 victory on Friday night.

The win clinched a tie for Reed City’s eighth straight Central State Activities Association Gold Division title. The score was 63-0 at halftime.

Reed City entered this week ranked fourth in the state in Division 5.

Reed City (7-0, 6-0) hosts Newaygo next week. The Lions are 5-1 and would force Reed City to share the title with a win.

“We’re excited to play Newaygo for the outright CSAA Gold championship,” Coyote coach Monty Price said. “Obviously Newaygo and Reed City has become quite a game over the last seven to eight years. We know they’ll present us with a lot of challenges. They have a lot of size and very physical and aggressive kids on both sides of the ball We’re expecting a hard fight.

“The keys to the game, as always are winning the battle in the trenches and at the line of scrimmage and hopefully playing mistake free football in regards to turnovers and penalties. We’re looking forward to the opportunity.”
